When I heard Spur’s Coach Popovich’s technique was to inundate them with videos of their offense from games past, I knew there was one particular player on that team that would respond:
Game 3 LA – Utah Notes:
Boozer finally brought game but even so seems far from the dominating PF we know him to be. I’ve been waiting for flashes of that brilliant hop skip move and head and shoulder fakes for either a teardrop semi hook or a power jam, but today we had fadeaways(?!) and 8 foot (well guarded) jumpers. Deron on the other hand was his usual brilliant self, but again not really the Playoff level player I’d like to see, and why does he keep wanting to dunk so much?
On the other side, Kobe needs help but it is not forthcoming with Radmanovic missing open 3s and Walton fumbling the ball away after a clear possession on a jumpball against Williams and Gasol in the dying minutes. Odom seems to be playing well but must assert himself further if he’s going to make a difference.
Spurs 0; Hornets 1
It is a very rare occurrence to observe Chris Paul carve up the lane for either a dish and dunk to David West or lay it up making it look oh – so – easy. I remember feeling that way watching only 3 players in my life: Michael Jordan, John Stockton and Hector Calma.
Chris Paul makes it four. He dishes. He weaves. He lofts and passes and dunks. He is THE MAN to watch this year and many years to come. Built like Baron Davis but crafty as Stockton, with Tim Hardaway crossover plus head and shoulder fakery that makes many a defender dizzy with confusion, he’ll shower points on you faster than you realize he’s already laying it up. Will he dish? Will he pass? Will he dash? Either way, he’s got you.
I woke up this morning (true story), feeling uninspired. But as my head rolled around my pillow trying to think of what to do today, I caught site of some memorabilia of a time when I interviewed someone from the NBA two years ago, and I realized something. Something that woke me up immediately.
I realized that it’s nearly the Playoffs. Now, doesn’t that get you excited? Is this mic on? Are you hearing me clearly? It’s . The . Playoffs.
