I’ve kept mum on the issue re LeBron leaving Cleveland several months ago, mostly because I didn’t really know what to make of all of it (and let that be a lesson to you young kids. If you don’t know what you’re talking about, keep your mouth shut).
Growing up, I had always leaned towards independent thought, or the idea that one should make up his own mind, and that right be respected every person. It might seem inconsequential, but that right is the crux of the freedom we enjoy. There will always be people who think they have a better idea what you should do with yourself. They may be right or wrong, but once you are an adult, it is absolutely important that when you’ve made up your mind they respect your decision, however badly it does not sit with them. Once this basic courtesy is accorded upon you, if they continue to wish you the best anyway, it is a great measure of their maturity and wisdom.
Anyway, before I go on, here’s LeBron’s latest video, which sorta got me into the mood I’m in.
I just wanted to say that i’m not completely living under a rock and am well aware of not only Mr. Bartholomew’s book, but am an avid follower of his (via his blog) and have been following his exploits for many a year now.
I knew he was writing a book and had been eagerly awaiting its publishing. I am therefore quite happy to announce his booklaunch on the 24th, which I’ve learned about via spam from his publicity people I assume. Details to wit:
I also know that it’s been out for quite awhile now, and having said that, will quickly explain why I haven’t bought and read, it.
You will forgive me, dear readers, as I go all mushy on you for a little bit. I just need to write this all down before it passes.
So five years ago (can’t believe its been that long), I coached the 17 and under kids in the village liga in Cainta where I lived, and I continued to coach all the four years I lived there. Despite it’s ups and downs (I still believe we wuz robbed of a Championship), overall it was a wonderful experience I would never forget. Not necessarily because of the game and coaching per se, more likely because I became friends with the kids and became part of a community.
So listen I know I don’t get to post much considering PLDT DSL has yet to bless upon me their service (I’ve now moved to Sta. Rosa, Laguna), but nevertheless I’m taking what little internet time I have at my friend’s place to wish you all a MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Now go and stop ‘checking the internet’ and celebrate however you can with whoever you can. If there’s one thing I’ve learned in life, winners surround themselves with family and friends, while those who choose to be alone hang their heads from the weight of the big Ls on their forehead.
