Finally Ordered One On One

When I was a kid they used to show ‘One On One‘ on RPN 9 every so often. It’s a movie about an up and coming basketball genius played by Robby Benson who grew up in a hick Mid – American State (one of those square shaped ones), who was recruited into big University to play ball. Being young and terribly naive he gets into all sorts of trouble, but eventually pulls himself together to show everyone, especially the Coach who was trying to get rid of him (played brilliantly by G.D. Spratlin, who also memorably played a corrupt politician in Godfather II amongst others), what he’s really made of.

Aside from Benson and Spratlin I also remember a very very hot Anette O’ Toole here, whom modern viewers (ie. young people) will only recognize now as Clark Kent’s Mom on Smallville.

So I’ve been dying to watch this movie again for years. I’ve recently been trying to download it but heck, the torrent has been on 99% for weeks now and the prospects for getting that final 2.5mb chunk of data isn’t looking good.

Annoyed and frustrated, I was checking out Amazon and eBay this morning to find out how much it would send a copy over (I didn’t have my hopes up, assuming it’d be expensive), when I happened onto an internal ad on eBay, one of those that shows up at the sidebar while you’re browsing for other things.

It looked like this:

Which I clicked, and eventually lead to this:

Which after some computation plus shipping fees, turned out to only $21.74 (P960.04). WOOOHOOO!!!

After paying via PayPal, I receive an email that I will be getting it within 5-15 working days. A short time to wait considering the years I’ve been waiting for this, but still long considering I can’t wait to get my paws on it.

I’ll update this soon as whatever happens whether I get it or not for whatever reason.

  1. Thanks for the info. I loved One on One and have been looking for a copy too. I never saw it on RPN, but I watched it several times on the big screen when it was shown years ago. I still remember the lovely soundtrack by Seals and Crofts such as Fair Share and This Day belongs to me. It would be nice to see it again.
