4:19	Ladies and gents, welcome to my first liveblog session of the UAAP season 2009

4:20	UE has just beaten AdU 95-91 in a thrilling double overtime.

4:21	Pari Llagas won the game with a terrific steal in the dying seconds, negating AdU's chances of making it a triple OT

4:22	Elmer Espiritu and Paul Lee of UE will earn Jollibee double duo honors. They all look absolutely tired after playing most of the game.

4:22	I'm glad to have a chance to practice liveblogging again. I'm probably rusty and I miss this.

4:23	Still a bunch of commercials before the UST DLSU game. We're probably a good ten or more mins. away pa.

4:29	alright here we go.

4:30	thankfully Boom Gonzales is covering this at the Araneta Coliseum, along with TJ Manotoc.

4:31	ADMU is on top, with 5 wins to 1 loss c/o UP. NU is the complete opposite at the bottom. UST and DLSU has a 3-2 and 3-1 record respectively.

4:31	FEU is at 2nd with 4-2

4:32	stats show UST is an offense minded team with 87ppg as opposed to dlsu's 60ppg

4:32	points allowed for dlsu though is 60+ppg, but UST's defense has some work to do with a 80+ppg clip

4:34	it will no doubt be a mirza / ababou show for ust as usual.

4:34	Joseph Marata, guard of dlsu had a good outing last with 12pts and 4 steals vs. NU.

4:35	interestingly this is the only player stat shown re DLSU today, indicative of the lack of 'stars' on this team.

4:35	to be frank, I am very excited to see how coach pumaren will fare with this lineup this year, almost obviously one of the weakest teams he has had to coach in a long time.

4:36	as we all know by now, it is silly to count any Franz Pumaren team out. His teams have a tendency to play badly at the start of the seasons only to become Champions at the end.

Kobe Visit Pics Post 3 of 3

Man it's been busy as heck and this post is way delayed, so let's just get it done and wrap this baby up. Here are some of my remaining pics of Kobe's visit.

So as I mentioned last time we went ahead of everyone else to Ultra (Philsports Arena) and this is what greeted us, empty stands and the hosts just hanging out.

Kobe Visit Pics Post 2 of 3

We continue where we left off at Nike Serendra, The Fort at Taguig. The police escorted bus whizzed us there in a magical 20 odd mins from Manila Pen in the middle of a weekday afternoon, and I remember thinking that's probably why politicians are so out of touch from the common tao, given they never experience traffic.

Kobe Visit Pics Post 1 of 3

I took around 90 pics from Kobe's Manila visit yesterday so it'd be such a pity if I didn't publish them all. So I decided to break it down into three parts in chronological order as the day went on. Here's the first, starting morning of the 21st at the Press Conference, Manila Pen, Makati.

Some press guy came in wearing a full Lakers uniform. Wonder if it paid off.

Kobe Tour Update: Free Tickets @ The Fort, Liveblog @ BallEx!

Alrighty Kobe and not - so Kobe fans. As promised, here are the details of Kobe's Nike Tour fresh off my email rcvd just a few minutes ago:

"Kobe Bryant's one-day Manila visit will kick off with a visit at Nike Park, The Fort at 2:00pm, where he will meet young ballers from select Gawad Kalinga communities. Kobe has made it a point to support deserving institutions in every tour, setting aside quality time to be with children who are interested in basketball to encourage them to keep dreaming big. Activities at the Nike Park, The Fort will be broadcasted live over W.N.I.K.E Radio on 89.9 DWTM.

The main event of the basketball superstar's Manila visit will be a basketball camp at the ULTRA where Kobe will showcase his skills and share his basketball prowess alongside the Nike Elite Campers, a group of up-and-coming young basketball players. The camp will allow Kobe to work with his young fans to help them increase their level of play on the basketball court. The show will start at 4:00pm, gates will be open to the public at 3:00pm."

Basketball Break: Federer’s New Commercial

Yes I know I should be watching CSB vs. SSC-R right now, but I'm taking one of my occasional non-basketball time outs to check out Nike's new Federer commercial, in recognition of his mind boggling 15 Grand Slams.

15 Grand Slams, at only 27 years old is an unbelievable achievement in two ways, one in that you managed to do it per se, and the other in that at 27 years old, you've probably 3 or maybe 5 more years to up that even more.
