Mock Draft version 1.00
What is a mock draft? A mock draft is a projection used by draft experts to help determine which players a team should take during their turn in the draft. It is also used by draft aspirants or pro wannabes to determine their value around the league. Lastly and more importantly, it also used by scouts and coaches to get to know the players that are likely available at their turn.
Please check my first edition of the 2007 pba mock draft below. I have taken into account that Fil-Am Joe Devance has already completed his papers and has been declared eligible for the draft. If not, I will be making the necessary changes in my next mock draft.
First Round
1 - Welcoat: Samigue Eman. You just don't pass up on a 6-10 athletic talent. He could turn out to be a bust, but his ceiling is limitless.
2 - San Miguel: Joe Devance - Intal could be here but it's hard to imagine him getting substantial playing minutes with Danny Seigle, Dondon Hontiveros, Lordy Tugade, Larry Fonacier and Cris Calaguio. Devance can play all frontcourt spots.
3 - Sta. Lucia: Ken Bono - The Realtors need size and Bono is probably the best left at their turn. He has scoring potential that Marlou Aquino lacks and will be a better compliment to Kelly Williams
4 - Coca Cola: JR Quiñahan - The Tigers need size to help out Ali Peek in the middle. Quiñahan can block shots (led the PBL in that category the past conference) and is a good rebounder.
5 - Air21: JC Intal - The Express will be very surprised if Intal falls all the way down to them at #5 and will not let the opportunity pass to get him. Intal will be superfluous with Arwind Santos and KG already there at the Express camp but the team knows talent when they see one.
6 - Alaska: Ryan Reyes - Last conference's champs get an unexpected gift by way of the 6-1 Fil-Am Ryan Reyes. Reyes is a point guard who has the potential to be a league superstar one day.
7 - Alaska: Doug Kramer - The Aces need another thug in the mold of a Reynel Hugnatan and Kramer fits that tag. He's an excellent rebounder (led the PBL in that category the past conference) and is one of the best frontcourt defenders in the nation
8 - Air21: Jonas Villanueva - The Express will be disappointed that Ryan Reyes is gone at #8 but will still be elated that Jonas Villanueva is still available. Villanueva may be a better fit for the Express because he has size, outside shooting and playmaking ability.
9 - Coca-Cola: Yousif Aljamal - The Tigers need another frontcourt talent and Aljamal is the best left. He's a Vic Pablo clone. He has a three-point range and is one of amateur basketball's best rebounders at his position.
10 - Red Bull: Ronjay Buenafe - Buenafe is a high-scoring swingman who will make the Barakos forget Lordy Tugade and Larry Fonacier. He can heat up instantly and play on both ends of the court.
Second Round
11 - Sta. Lucia: Marvin Cruz - Marvin Cruz is the best available player at this turn. He can almost do anything - score, rebound, steal, pass, set up plays, and excite the crowd.
12 - Welcoat: Jojo Duncil - The Dragons need a younger talent to back up Jojo Tangkay and Duncil will likely be it. He is a scorer who loves to slash inside and has a dependable jumper to boot.
13 - Sta. Lucia: Reed Juntilla - The Realtors love shooters and Reed Juntilla is the best of the lot. Juntilla will be an upgrade over Cesar Catli and Paeng Santos at the "2" guard spot.
14 - Air21: Francis Barcellano - The Express do not have great size to anchor their frontline and it will hurt the team even more if Telan is traded. Barcellano is the only banger worth considering in the second round
15 - Purefoods: Jeff Chan - This will be the first pick of the Giants in the draft and will utilize it on the best talent available. It will be a huge surprise if Chan slips this low but if he does, expect the Giants to collar him. He will give the team another shooter next to James Yap and June Simon.
16 – Alaska: Ryan Araña - Araña is a complete player who could be the heir apparent to Jeffrey Cariaso. He is a terrific defender who can also score when he wants to.
17 - Red Bull: Macky Escalona - Can' get enough of Ateneans? Macky Escalona will be a great addition to the Barakos if he slips this far. He is a dependable point who broke out of the shadows of LA Tenorio at Ateneo to become one of amateur basketball's best playmakers.
18 - Talk N Text: Khiel Misa - Misa has been known as a scorer in the Willie Miller mold but could also direct team plays... he will slip far into the draft because this is a deep draft for point guards.
19 - Air21: Joel Solis - The Express will continue their search for a young forward to build up their young frontline corps but you just don't find enough talent at this low. Joel Solis is still raw for the pros but he has a great upside.
20 - Red Bull: Noy Javier - Javier was known as a dreaded scorer at one point in his career. He is dangerous with the ball because he can shoot from any angles. At less than six feet though with no defense, it will be very hard for him to gain considerable minutes.
On the bubble:
Darryl Pepito - he's a flashy point guard who can play but only a few people know him... he could be a great catch but everything will be determined by his performance in the pre-draft camp... if he impresses, he could sneak into the second round, or even at the bottom of the first round.
Mark Moreño - if only he can shoot, he would be a cinch to be drafted... he's a pure point guard who can fill a boxscore with steals and assists.

daryl is the best point guard among the aspirants.
he was selected few times in Australian national games representing New South wales.
Although there's no much hype for him unlike Intal and company, but he is showing his worth despite of the limited court time he got during rookie camp this week.
