Good news to all Philippine basketball followers! ABC-5 confirmed that they will be airing all of the SMC-RP Team’s games in the 2007 Jones Cup to be held in Taipei, Taiwan from July 2-10. The Philippines will pit wits against other top nine teams, which includes a USA selection, and the national teams of Japan, Korea and Lebanon, among others. It would be interesting how the RP team fares against Asian rivals Jordan and Iran. Both teams together with China and the Philippines belong to the same bracket in the FIBA Asia Championships, dubbed as “the Group of Death” because each team is given an equal chance to advance. The Philippines will face both teams on July 6 and July 7.
The Philippines will kick-off the tournament with a game against a US selection made up of collegiate standouts. The game will be aired live at 5 p.m. The succeeding games will be shown on the same day but on a slightly delayed basis.
Schedules are here:
July 2 – 5:00 pm against USA
July 3 – 7:00 pm against Lebanon
July 4 – 10:00 pm against Japan
